Golden Beach, located just 3 km west of Chania, is the closest beach to the city and a popular destination for residents. Situated to the east of the Agioi Apostoloi peninsula, the beach is partially sheltered from the northern summer winds (meltemi).
True to its name, Golden Beach features fine golden sand and typically calm, shallow waters, especially until mid-August. The left and right sections together span 500 meters in length, with the right section boasting a small grove of tamarisk trees that provide natural, cool shade.
