Elafonisi is situated in the southwest of the Chania prefecture, 76 km from Chania and just 5 km from the Chrysoskalitissa Monastery. The beach is well-organized with fine white sand, and in some areas, you can find pink sand caused by crushed shells. The waters are turquoise and quite shallow, making it an ideal spot for children.
Elafonisi is part of the Natura 2000 protected areas due to its unique flora and fauna, including sand daffodils, sea cedars, and loggerhead turtles. In 2019, it was ranked among the top 25 beaches in the world according to traveler reviews on TripAdvisor.
