Finikas (Phoenix) is a quaint settlement located just 700 meters west of Loutro in the region of Sfakia. The entrance to this settlement features an automatic door designed to prevent the entry of animals. Within Finikas, there is a church dedicated to Christ, adorned with frescoes dating back to the 14th and 15th centuries. The European E4 hiking trail passes through the settlement, connecting Marmara with Loutro.
Finikas gets its name from the ancient city of Phoenix, the port of Anopolis, which was situated near what is now Loutro. Ruins of this ancient city can still be seen today. Below the settlement, visitors will find a beautiful beach with crystal-clear waters, pebbles, and shady trees. The beach is an ideal spot for relaxation and swimming.
