Located on the northern coast of Akrotiri, 16 km from the city of Chania, lies the renowned and picturesque Stavros Beach. Once a small and secluded fishing village, Stavros has transformed into a bustling tourist destination, yet it remains an ideal spot for a peaceful holiday. Adjacent to its quaint harbor, the relatively small beach now attracts hundreds of locals and tourists during the summer months.

The central beach forms an almost semi-circular cove, featuring turquoise waters and white sands. The wild beauty of the hillside, which ends abruptly opposite the beach, creates a stunning backdrop. This picturesque scenery was famously chosen as the filming location for the iconic syrtaki dance scenes in the 1964 movie “Zorba the Greek,” a landmark of Greek tourism for decades.

Stavros Beach offers a range of amenities, has been awarded the Blue Flag for its high standards, and is particularly suitable for families with young children. The beach is well-protected from the frequent strong north-northwest winds that prevail during the summer, ensuring calm waters for safe swimming.
